The founding Chairman of the Black Panther Party [BPP], Bobby Seale is the last surviving architect of one of
the most important social change movements in American and African American history. Taking to the stage with
his lively charismatic and activist eloquence Mr. Seale illuminates the true sixty's birth and youthful intelligentsia
of the BPP; extolling the unknown philosophical range of the sixties protest movement [ which grew out of student
activism, research and dedicated programmatic community organizing. NOT street-life hooliganism which racist
directed conservatism continue to distort. ]
He transports the audience back to the mini-civil-war turbulence of the late sixties and early seventies when the
image of hundreds of thousands of protesters and young Black men and women selling hundreds of thousands of
"THE BLACK PANTHER" newspapers, with law books, and legal guns [for self defense against literal overt
racist gun shooting attacks]. Today this is unheard of.
["Today you don't need guns" charges Bobby Seale. "If you want to observe police brutality learn to use today's
technology. Network with a thousand camcorders and put it on the internet. Create Video leaflets in the multi
thousands. Unify the people with the evidence and move to futher implement realistic peoples economic parity &
greater direct [participatory] democracy, complete with community control of police. Social change?
Organizationally, learn to think and act, creatively with my 21st century polylectic nonlinear view, referenced with
good scientific evidentiary facts. Today we live in an over developed environmentally and socially wasteful, but also
in a fast-paced high-tech scientific computerized globalizing social order. Our ideas, understanding & realizations
must correspond correctly to reality."]
Defining himself as a "revolutionary humanist," Seale brings the 60's movement full circle showing how times
have changed. How we must REACH for the future. How all civil-human rights issues today are interconnected and
interrelated with all ecological-environmental problems and global economics.
He gives a rousing call for a new 21st century "...greater peoples' direct democratic ecological
economic-empowerment. " A higher educational social justice, interconnected cyberspace activism. Explaining the
need to focus on today's fast-paced computerized cyber-netted scientific high-tech information-based economy, and
why it must be futher democratized on a higher level, for the possibilities of a future world of active creative
cooperational humanism: '...Revolutionizing our thinking as much as possible to correspond correctly to reality. No
racism! No demagogues! No bigotry or absurd chauvinisms! No extremist terroristic stupidity! On all levels no
avaricious exploitation nor criminality...ALLOWED!" declares Mr. Seale. "We must creatively fashion a peoples
new world order of decent human relationships amongst, between and around all earth's peoples, and especially
evolve non-exploitative, non-abusive, and non-oppressive relationships of males dominating females. Complete
with a scientific evidentiary respect for all earth life diversity, as the true interconnected interrelated goal
objectives of all human liberation on this, our earth! We must get out of the trap of line-linear mechanistic thinking.
Making sure, as much as possible, that our ideas, beliefs, notions, understandings and realizations corresponds
correctly to reality. Get ourselves involved and conscientiously imagine and do it in spite of all the pseudo-science,
disinformation and double-talking politicians, messiahs, xenophobics, racist, criminals and greedy corporate
mongers. We must see ourselves as active creative revolutionary humanist!"
About BOBBY SEALE
Bobby Seale was born in Dallas Texas in 1936. From 1945 Seale was raised a hunter-fisherman and a carpenter, to
become an architect growing up in Berkeley and Oakland California. Before evolving to international prominence
he served as an air craft structural mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. He also became a jazz drummer and stand up
comic and later a non-destruct inspector engineer with the Gemini Missile Program. He enrolled in Merritt College
as an Engineering Design major, and between 1962 thru 1965, there gained his first extensive exposure to the
growing civil-human rights struggle. Researching the whole of African and African American peoples history,
including surviving Africanisms, or 'eboincs' of Black American English language form.
He was influenced by both Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela, but it was the life and death of
Malcolm X that moved Bobby Seale, to seek out and convince Newton, to help get another grass roots organization
going. With the death of Malcolm X Seale dedicated himself to "...turning this backward racist world around; to
make some human sense."
Together with Huey P. Newton, Seale founded the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in October 1966. They
advocated the right to self defense in the face of to many peaceful protesters who were literally being brutalized,
terrorized and murdered during the sixties.
Except for the self defense advocacy, their new organization was similar to other civil rights protest
organizations. With their original TEN POINT PROGRAM Seale and Newton called for full employment; decent
housing; true history education; an end to economic exploitation; preventive medical health care; fairness in the
courts and constitutional democratic civil-human rights for all peoples. Seale and Newton immediately moved to
"...capture the imagination of the people..." and organize realistic, "All Power To All The People" revolution.
Complete with a functional 'three dimensional' theory of peoples power, an articulate legal defense effort, law
books & armed 'legal' patrolling of the then overt racist police, and Seale designing, laying out and getting out the
first issue of their Black Community News Service, they put their lives on the line against age old institutionalized
racism and rampant government directed police brutality.
In the first year of international notoriety the BPP consisted of no more than 75 tentative members by the time
Huey P. Newton went to jail in October of 1967. But Seale's "...ideology-in motion...,' his grass roots speaking, and
infrastructure methodical political organizing swelled the national membership to over five thousand [5,000] in over
forty chapters and branches in cities across America. After which in 1969 Seale was jailed on trumped up charges
for two years without bail.
In one of his two historical court room trials, Seale was chained, physically gagged and shackled to a chair for
three days in the great CHICAGO EIGHT CONSPIRACY TRIAL. But with the nation wide organizational
coalitions; political unity efforts by the BPP; the international massive demonstrations to "FREE BOBBY SEALE,'
and the legal network in place, first the Chicago Seven won, and Seale finally won all the other court room political
trials trumped up against him. A Black Panther, sixty's NEW-Left protest WIN, opposing vicious FBI-Police
attacks on all the BPP offices. Winning in the face of the FBI's COINTELPRO [counter intelligence program]
government directed oppression.
Weathering everything, and in the end, the attacks were stopped in light of the U.S. Senate investigation the
FBI-police attacks. Directly and indirectly, the BPP won 95% of all their court room political trials across the U.S.
During his eight years as Chairman, Seale served as the BPP's national spokesperson along with other BPP
speaker-organizers. He designed and took the lead in coordinating & expanding multiple and committee BPP
leadership.
He further established grass roots community-based programs in an attempt to create African American
electoral [voter] unity, coalesced with other progressive left radical organizations and friends, along with many
other ethnic community organization coalitions such as the YOUNG Lords; AIM [American Indian Movement];
The Brown Berets; Cezar Chavez's Farm Labor Movement; Chinese Students 'Red Guard', including the Young
Patriots who were youthful poor white people.
Seale's grass roots programs included Free Breakfast For School Children; Free Preventive Medical Health
Care Clinics; SAFE [Seniors Against A Fearful Environment]; Cooperative Housing; and free Food, Free Shoes
and Clothing Mass Voter registration drives; et., al. These and many other efforts, with dedicated hard working
heroic BPP members, culminated in 1973, with an historic unorthodox grass-roots organizing-bid for Mayor of
Oakland, that, while unsuccessful with only 42% of the vote, Seale's Black Panthers paved the way for many other
grass roots campaigns to follow.
Today, Bobby Seale, [still barbeque'n, supporting his family, and speaking across America], is also Community
Liaison with Temple University's Department of African American Studies AFRICOLOGY. With Bobby Seale's
REACH, Inc., framework [with plans for many African American-LEAD All-Earth Human Liberation Conferences],
he is also about raising funds with different ventures and putting together a financially self sufficient example of a
'...direct democratic community controlled economic development project.'
Specifically, Seale's REACH: Environmental Renovation Youth Jobs Projects [ERYJP]: Youth jobs, with
professional supervision [carpenters, drywallers, roofers, painters, electricians, plumbers, etc.] renovating old and
or abandon houses to be largely directed to homeless women with children. Also, because of the available
technology, youth jobs renovating & converting old cars into electrical automobiles and marketed back to the 80%
public who are concerned & demanding an ecological balance. Youth Jobs complete with five [5] hours of a 40 hour
work-week where sixteen [16] to 25 years of age, half male & half female, are also introduced to the cyberspace
computer technology, and with creative soft ware, the youth employees over a two to three year period, learn
numerous human resources skills: Filling out grant papers to go to college or trade school; decent relationships
between males & females; basic law & the moral-secular value of no more violence; etc., etc., etc.
A grass roots jobs program which polylecticly deals with several social, educational and economic issue-problems
at the same time. Seale, before and after the BPP help design, create and directed two such programs. Today,
REACH's ERYJP roots our youth into positive survival encompassing today's high tech computerized
information-based social order.
Seale also wrote and published a social change fund raiser cook book. The only down-home hickory [& mesquite]
smoke "Bobby-Que" cook book guide around: BARBEQUE'N WITH BOBBY SEALE. He participated in the Ben
& Jerry's ice cream commercial campaign for the Children's Defense Fund and he has a cameo role in Spike Lee's
Malcolm X. He is the author of several books including A LONELY RAGE and Seize The Time. He is completing
two books: POLYLECTIC REALITY: The Nonlinear Analytical View , and his latest Memoirs, "BOBBY SEALE
and All The Original Black Panthers."
He has also completed his screenplay, "SEIZE THE TIME: The Bobby Seale Story." A life story saga which
includes the film-drama on the rise and decline of the Black Panther Party, U.S.A. Mr. Seale is the central producer
of this fourth coming feature film production, raising development funds by Speaking Across America, and, with his
books & CD-Rom production sales, to bring this authentic action-adventure human involvement sixties
'VANGUARD' drama to the big screen.
